#myifeofkai ep: 492038492--- So my timelines (twitter, IG and Facebook) have me thinking...
What if... Instead of people saying things like I don't see color, and I don't acknowledge gender and let's ignore all of our differences because they're not important... They'd start to say things like--- I just don't want to talk about these things because they make me feel uncomfortable or because I just can't identify with the negative experiences that come along with these VISIBLE differences, or I don't want to be held responsible for the feelings attached with these negative experiences, because I don't understand it?
What if... maybe, JUST MAYBE, all of this "recent" public conversation is a RESULT of a lot of people pretending differences don't exist and that there's a huge population of people making a big deal out of a whole bunch of nothing?
What if... we all took a step back to realize that the reason some people are demanding to be heard and and respected, is because they've been IGNORED, which feels like disrespect?
What if... we took the time to understand, if we actually appreciated the diversity of this "melting pot" of a country we boast to live in, we would actually have to SEE diversity, which includes race, gender, sexuality and economic status. FYI-- ignoring it actually means you DON'T approve of diversity! You can't approve of something you don't believe in. This isn't the tooth fairy or Santa Claus. This is real life and the people who live it.
You don't have to get it, but perhaps just consider it...
