Ricardo
Antonio
Lawson, Jr.
Son | Brother | Cousin | Friend
My intuition is telling me there’ll be better days
I sit in silence and find whenever I meditate
My fears alleviate, my tears evaporate
My faith don't deviate, ideas don't have a date
But see I'm growing and getting stronger with every breath
Bringing me closer to heaven's doors with every step
As we speak I'm in peace…

Forever Remembering...
Caring, generous, sweet, empathetic, loving, funny, ‘life of the party’ — these are just a few words that describe our dearest, Ricardo.
Never shying away from a good time nor laugh whether with friends or family, he always entered the room shining the brightest light with the biggest smile. From loving to dress elegantly in a custom suit, to being the main character on the dance floor, to his work ethic and of course...loving the Eagles, Ricardo was a force and we are all lucky to have shared a lifetime with him.
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved, Ricardo Antonio Lawson, Jr. He transitioned to heaven on Friday July 21st, 2023 in Charlotte, North Carolina, surrounded by the love of his family and close friends.
Known as Papito to his family and Rico to his friends, he was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on January 28th,1991. He is the son of Ricardo Antonio Lawson, Sr. and Sonia Maxwell-Lawson. In his transition, he is survived by his Parents: Sonia and Ricardo Sr., along with Ricardo Sr. 's wife; Michelle, and his Sister Kai Deveraux Lawson.
Although his physical presence will be missed, there is peace to be found as his legacy will sustain through his close village of uncles, aunts, cousins and Best Friends: Dalia Maxwell, Dean & Sophia Maxwell, Mervin “Junie” Maxwell, Max & Laura Patterson, La Queta Maxwell, Sonia & Tony Williams, Angela & Mike Rieras, Aldith De Freitas, Jaime & Radna De Freitas, April Young, Curt Young & Vanessa Astros-Young, Cade & Aiden Young, Kevin Armstrong, Jovanca Colbourne, DeAngelo Howell, Jaileen De Freitas, Riangelo De Freitas, Valeria De Freitas, Kenzo Quintero De Freitas, Nyesha Maxwell, Ryleigh Dye, Nia Johnson, Indigo Johnson, Kara Johnson, De’Nea Maxwell, Demi Hester, Daenna Maxwell, Nadine Maxwell, Tacia Cameron, Elyse Cameron, Mervin Maxwell III, Tia Maxwell, Tanaya Maxwell, Nevaeh Maxwell, Jeremiah Ingram, Pamela Aaron, Zoë Aaron, Isabella Aaron, Nigel Patterson, Arlene Quinn, Kevin Quinn Sr., Kevin Quinn and KJ Quinn (known to Rico as nephew), Patrick Quinn, Michael Quinn, Terese Quinn, Cole Whitelock, Abby Kane, Sarah Cipollone, Nick Cipollone, James Tipton, Meagan Symes, Samantha Tabakelis, Alex Tabakelis, Shane O’Toole, Quenton L. Clements, Dane Laing, and many more that he cared for, mentored and loved deeply.
To know Ricardo was to love him beyond comprehension. What a presence he was when he entered every room. From helping friends tie their shoes in elementary school, to providing automotive support to family and friends who needed help with flat tires and oil changes and car washes, there’s no doubt that the one thing Ricardo was guaranteed to do, was “Show Up” for the people he loved. Often playing coy with his time and responding to verbal invitations with “I’ll see where I’m at with my life” before committing to an engagement, you knew that if Ricardo graced you with his presence it was because you were THE priority in his world.
While being a self described “simple man” Ricardo’s life was almost everything but simple. Ricardo’s love for life led him on an amazing journey during his 32 ½ years with us. As a young boy Ricardo earned his Black Belt in Taekwondo. As a teenager he played high school football (#51) for the Downingtown West Whippets. He matriculated at the University of West Hartford majoring in Engineering. He enjoyed a career in the Automotive industry. He traveled with Family and Friends to Europe, Central America, the Caribbean and across the United States of America, and in his final years he embarked on a journey to build roots in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition to spending quality time with everyone, Ricardo was a Philadelphia Eagles Fanatic and a wonderful Dog Dad to everyone’s favorite “big baby”, Rex.
While he will be dearly missed by his family and friends, we are encouraged to know that Ricardo will be welcomed to heaven by his precedingly departed Grandparents: Ethel Ricketts, Hugh Lawson, Linette Maxwell, Mervin “Gato” Maxwell, his friend Josh Coulter, and his beloved dog, Rex.
